Simple lang conversion ko. I was in college then. Di pumasok professor namin so a schoolmate of ours invited our whole class to attend their bible study. It was a lame guy who talked about the life after death. I remember him saying something like, “You may be a good student, you’re not a murderer, you’re not as bad as the others, etc. But one thing is sure, if you don’t have Christ, you’ll spend eternity in hell forever.”

Then he lead us to an invitation of acceptance. he said, “Everyone who wants to receive Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord, please come forward.” I wanted to come forward but i was so shy to do it. I waited and nakiramdam kung may magpo-forward. Ayoko kasi mauna. Nahihiya ako. I closed my eyes and bowed my head. Then i opened my eyes “secretly” to see if some have come forward. I remember seeing my female classmate went forward. Dun nilakasan ko na loob ko. I remember praying, “Lord, ayoko po sa impyerno. Please save me.”

On my way home, I felt I was in Cloud 9. As in, parang nasa alapaap ako. I felt very, very light and happy. I was humming the whole time walking from school to home.

That day, I got our bible and started flipping through its pages, pero patago. Pag makarinig ako ng footsteps, I would close the bible, hid it and pretend I was asleep. parating gan’un. After that, since nobody invited me to a bible based church, I still continued going to Catholic Church. But I remember, everytime the offering plate was passed, I was already giving 10% of whatever money I have.

Then in my graduate class, I didn’t know that one of my classmates there is a pastor’s wife of San Joaquin Bible Baptist Church. she invited me to their church. I told her, next time when the topic is good. she said, “the topics are always good.” Only after her 2nd invitation did I come and since then, dere-derecho na.
